Soren, Gylfie, Twilight, and Digger have settled into their lives at the Great Tree of Ga’Hoole, along with Soren’s baby sister Eglantine who was rescued as part of a large owlet rescue known as the Great Downing. However, Soren is still missing his mentor Ezylryb who did not return to the tree after the rescue operations. Soren is determined to search for him….especially after he hears tales of an evil owl with a metal beak.

This book is interesting as the young owls are growing up and realizing more about themselves and the world they live in. Soren is being thrust into a leader role, which weighs on him, as he is forced to take in the impact of his decisions on the safety of loved ones. A great read!

The Rescue is my second favorite Soren finally finds out the horrible truth about Kludd. I so think that Kludd killed Soren, Kludd, and Eglantine’s parents. I’m so glad that Ezylryb is fine.
