Seattle White Cop Punches Black Teen Girl in Face: Legal Review

www.lasvegasnevadadui.com I AM NOT A LAWYER. In this video review, I go over some of the rights and authority that police have over citizens. The particular incident in question is a widespread video of a cop punching a teenage girl. The full story can be found on my blog @ shakaama.blogspot.com Mr Ian P. Walsh has been since removed off the street and sent back to training. He has been on the force for only two years. His handling of the situation was abysmal. He overstepped his authority at every instance. I recommend to the families of the girls that they seek out an attorney and bring suit against both Mr. Walsh and the city of Seattle. This police department is out of control. A month ago this same department detained a Mexican American, insulted him with racial slurs and stomped on his head and neck, until they discovered he was a completely innocent person. This police department is the same one that last year was convicted of assault and battery of a teen girl in their custody inside of a jail cell. @shakaama how do you say believe half of what you see? its right there in plain sight, SHE assaulted a police officer, right or wrong she is wrong as soon as she put her hands on him. this isnt some photoshop msvideo edit were talking about, its raw footage. you know whats funny is that her man/friend obviously knew it was wrong to get in the way and was holding her back until she broke free of him and hit pushed the officer. how can you at all say she is right?

@kioshi718 before you call people morons, case in point, you might want to peruse the comments, and also might want to read the article.

Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. Peace.

  3. kioshi718 Says:

Obviously, you did not see the girl grab and push the police officer before he struck her. Obviously you failed to see the woman resisting arrest, weather or not the arrest was just, she was still resisting. Age and gender is not a factor as you don’t not have to be a 250lb bodybuilder to grab the gun off his belt and use it against him. Resisting arrest and interfering in an arrest completely make the punch justifiable. You my friend are a moron, plain and simple.

Most of your video has nothing to do with this incidence as all–articulate as you may be, you just seem to like to hear yourself talk. You also didn’t watch the video very well to see who was assaulting who here. These were not “little girls”–one is a 17 year old who is larger in height and girth than the officer, the other is a 19 year old which is one year older than being a legal adult. This girl has since publicly apologized to the officer because she knows she was wrong.

@MB3Productions hell by the time i get married and have children, I’ll own my own island and my daughters and sons will not be walking public streets.

    BUT I DIGRESS.

  6. MB3Productions Says:

@shakaama: I seriously doubt that you would raise your daughter to curse at police. I also think that if your daughter was asked by a law enforcement officer to stand her or there, she would comply and conduct herself as a lady. Once this girl put her hands on the officer attempting to arrest the other woman, that was assault. He didn’t know if she was 17or 23. All he knew was that she was being physical and verbally abusive. I think the force was excessive, but I understand.

  7. sfliberal Says:

Oh please, man. She attacked that officer, and she wasn’t even the one being ticketed! That’s assault, pure and simple. I don’t care if they’re both polka-dotted elephants from Mars. She was way out of line.

You want to cry racism here? In this case, you’re crying wolf, and when the next Julian Alexander or Oscar Grant situation comes along, fewer people will listen. Yeah, way to help “our people.” Nice going.

    @roguemtber you’re right.

If you don’t want to get punched in the face by the police, don’t invite them into your life! Don’t break the law, but if you happen to break a minor law don’t fight!

@sph1480 @sph1480 as many people have pointed out the officer, the “adult”, and the specially trained human, in this instance, completely and utterly handled a benign situation completely and utterly wrong.

And, this was my point, at some point we need someone in that position with some integrity to recognize when they are executing something that is systemic to begin with.

put aside this incident, as a Libertarian, the entire basis of the scenario is wrong.

The officer should have just stood there and let the crowd have their way with him???? Anyone can sit behind a keyboard and pretend to know what the could have or would have done in this situation, but it’s different when your standing in it!! The officer, alone and surrounded by a crowd, defended himself againt two aggressive females and it’s ashame to see that in today’s society a police officer is always wrong for doing that!!

it’s true but even if the cop is wrong, when the officers says “your under arrest” that’s it you have to submit. i have family members that are officers and if you think the cop arresting you is wrong of course you can beat the charges againest you, but ANY officer will tell you that the streets is not where you will be settling this your going to be contained. don’t let this guy fool you there is no touching an officer. unwanted touch in america is an assault my sister is a lawyer told me so

  15. whitetailhunta Says:

all of this shit could have been avoided if they wouldnt broke the law. most laws are stupid but it is what it is.

  16. iruiz58 Says:

You bored the shit out of me man u think i have all day to listen to you?

  17. roguemtber Says:

you left out one important point-in order for an officer to give a citation, he has to confront a citizen, have them detain there, and communicate with them, right? If they RESIST that , what next? Can anyone fight being given a ticket? Wrong. You are wrong on many points. They violently resisted the detaining, confronting and communicating needed to write them a citation. They escilated the resistance into physically pushing the officer away from them. Go back and try again, smarty pants

I have to admit I do believe the escalation of the incident was the police officers fault. Had he used sufficient force to handcuff the unruly citizen early on he could have maintained control of the situation. As for the girl, this is a society based on the rule of law and she should have have accepted the consequences for breaking the law and taken her ticket. If she felt the citation was unjust she could have disputed it in court. Was the cop trying to get her ID? Did she give it freely?

@kickwagon when he punched her my heart went right up into my throat, because that was the EXACT thought that came into my mind, “what if that was my daughter”.

As i said in my annotation, I saw the video and wrote the article at 4a.m. on my blog, shown in info, but couldn’t even think straight till 11a.m. to make this video. And even then i had to do 5 takes.

You’d all be singing a different tune if it were your daughter.
